Home: Welcome

SAINTS of GOD - GREAT NEWS

Glory to GOD in the Highest!!!  Saints of God, we are embarking upon another U.A.M.E. Conference year and our theme is "Next Level Faith".

We have come a long way by faith, and it has been truly an honor to serve as the Pastor of such a great church community.  Sometimes the road has been tough, but GOD has always been in control!

We are continuing to follow the state, Federal, and C.D.C. guidelines concerning Social Distancing. We have 10 am prayer and 11 am Sunday worship service. Please come prepared wearing a mask and entering through the 5th Street gated entrance.  You shall be greeted at the door and ushered to sit at one of many pre-marked pew settings that have members sitting at least 6 feet apart from other parishioners.

Saints of God, David tells us in Psalm 24:1, “The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.”, and just as we learned in Sunday School, He still has the whole world,

in HIS hands!

Stay encouraged!

In HIS Grip,

Pastor William A. Sims Jr.

Church Windows

Here at Mother Church, our desire is to carry on the Great Commission in the Gospel according to St. Matthew 28:1620, where on a mountain in Galilee, Jesus calls on His followers to make disciples and baptize all nations in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; teaching them to observe everything He has commanded and surely He will be with us always, to the very end of the age.

About Mother Union American Methodist Episcopal Church

Established in 1813 by free African American Peter Spencer, the Union Church of Africans was the first independent African American religious denomination in the United States. After leaving Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church to start Ezion Methodist Church in 1805, Spencer broke with the Methodist Episcopal denomination completely in 1812 due to the barring of African American leadership with the church. As one of the founding churches under the auspices of the Union Church, Mother Union American Methodist Episcopal (UAME) was among the first of its kind to be organized and directed by African Americans, and was unique in its encouragement of significant female participation. Originally located at 12th and French Streets, Mother UAME moved to 701 East 5th Street in 1996. The Union Church denomination celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2013 and continues to serve the needs of its numerous domestic and international communities, thereby ensuring the perpetuation of Spencer’s movement. In 2014, this historical marker was dedicated by and for the Church community with Presiding Bishops Rt. Reverend Michael S. Moulden and Rt. Reverend Linwood Rideout III, and Bishop George W. Pointdexter (Retired) in attendance.
